PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Response to public consultationon Discovery UTCand supplementary consultation 1st September to 4thOctober.
In January and February 2012 the sponsors of Discovery UTC consulted on their plans to open a new 14-19school in September 2013 in Newcastle. As required under section 10 of the Academies Act 2010 the sponsors conducted a public consultation on the plans for the new school and the proposed admission arrangements.The response to this consultation has now been published and can be found at www.discoveryschool.org.uk, alongside details of the planned new building and exciting curriculum developments.
Since the original consultation on the school anumber of changes have occurred which the sole sponsor NCG would like to highlight and provide opportunities for public feedback. The school will now seek to enter into a funding agreement with the Secretary of State as Discovery School and not under the brand of aUniversity Technical College. Despite this Discovery School plans to work with partners to deliver the same specialist engineering curriculum underpinned by science, maths and technology as previously described in the earlier consultation.
