The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) has carried out an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) under the Marine Works (EIA) Regulations 2007 (as amended) in relation to the Marchwood Widening project, to complete dredging and disposal in this area. In accordance with Regulation 22, the MMO has respectively decided to grant EIA consent for the project, subject to certain conditions being imposed.
Full details of the decision, including the environmental information taken into consideration, the main reasons and considerations on which the EIA consent decision was based and the conditions attached to the consent can be found at www.marinemanagement.org.uk. This information mayalso be inspected free of charge during normal working hours at the MMO's office (a charge may be made for copies of data provided). The Marine Works (EIA) Regulations 2007 transpose, in relation to marine works, the EIA Directive (Council Directive 87/337/EEC of 27 June 1985, as amended).
The EIA for the ABP Marchwood Widening project was carried out following an application relating to the project for a marine licence under Part 4 of the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009. Following EIA consent, the Regulator will consider authorising this application.
