Changes to the Coast Path between Seaton Carew (Hartlepool) and South Bents (Sunderland) - a call for Representations and Objections

Natural England has been asked by the government to establish a continuous walking route around England's coastline. As part of this programme, our report describing proposed changes to public access between Seaton Carew and South Bents is published on 17th December 2012.

This report has been drawn up in partnership with Hartlepool Borough Council, Durham County Council and Sunderland City Council.

Representations and Objections on the proposed changes can now be made and must be received by Natural England no later than 5pm on 11th February 2013.

The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs will make a decision about the report when all Representations and Objections have been considered. Establishment of the new access arrangements will not begin until that decision is made.

How to make a Representation or Objection

Representations can be made by any person, while Objections can only be made by owners and occupiers of affected land. Our report can be viewed at certain libraries in Durham, Hartlepool and Sunderland.

Copies of the report and details of these venues are available from Natural England's website at:

All Representations and Objections must be made on the correct forms supplied by Natural England and can be obtained from our website at the above address, or from the locations described above. Copies of these forms can also be requested from our office at:
