Southampton City Council County of Hampshire

Southampton City Council has applied to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under section 38 of the Commons Act 2006 to carry out restricted works on Central Parks Common Land. The proposed works are the renovation of Houndwell Play Area to provide a fully accessible play environment to include the installation of new play equipment, new surfacing (play bark, play sand, wet pour safety surfacing and artificial grass around play equipment, tarmac paths and natural grass areas), fencing and areas of planting with sensory and robust plants suitable for a play area strategically planted to reduce the visual impact of the fencing. The total area of the works will be 2000m2 and the fence will be 210m long and 1.8m high. A temporary site compound will be in place during the construction works.
