The County Council of Durham (C98 New Elvet Bridge, Durham City) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2023

The Council on 20/1/2023 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on a 150 metre length of C98 New Elvet Bridge between its junctions with Elvet Bridge and A690 Leazes Bowl Roundabout, Durham City to enable bridge inspection works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure from A690 west to Millburngate Roundabout then north westerly via A691 to Sniperley Roundabout then south on A167 to 'Cock O' The North' Roundabout then north easterly on A177 leading to Church Street and Stockton Road and to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence between 8pm and 6am on 30/1/2023 and are anticipated to be completed in 2 nights between 8pm and 6am. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
