The A11 Gla Road (Mile End Road, London Borough Of Tower Hamlets) (Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic) Order 2023

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable water leakage detection works to take place at A11 Mile End Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle except pedal cycles to enter, exit or proceed in an easterly direction on Mile End Road between its junctions with A1205 Grove Road and Rhonda Grove. Local access is maintained via the western carriageway of Mile End Road

The Order will be effective at certain times between 1:00 AM and 4:00 AM on 9th February 2023 or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibition is in force an alternative route will be indicated by traffic signs via (diversion 1) A1205 Burdett Road, A13 East India Dock Road, St Leonards Road, A12 Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach, Blackwall Tunnel Northern Approach off-slip road connecting to roundabout junction with High Street and Bow Road and A11 Bow Road to normal route of travel; local diversion -Alfred Street, Malmesbury Road, Alloway Road, Morgan Street and Rhondda Grove to normal route of travel; (for vehicles travelling north on Burdett Road) Grove Road, Crown Gate Roundabout, Grove Road and diversion 1 to normal route of travel.
