THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CARLISLE AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.1) ORDER 2023
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable United Utilities to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.
Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote are stated in the attached schedule.
The Order will come into operation on 22 January 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed in the attached schedule, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
1. Ashley Street, Carlisle - From 22 January 2023, for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTRO/2500)
From its junction with Wigton Road to its junction with Head Street.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Ashley Street, Port Road and Wigton road
2. U1077 Blackford - From 23 January 2023, for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTRO/2466)
From its junction with the U1078, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 300m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U1077, U1078, C1009 and the A6071.
3. U1176 Linstock - From 24 January 2023, for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTRO/2526)
From a point adjacent to the property known as 'Scawfell', extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 100m. Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted section of the U1176 and the C1015.
4. B6263 Cumwhinton - From 26 January 2023, for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTRO/2712).
From its junction with Reeds Way, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 90m. Alternative Route:
Westbound Vehicles: Via the unrestricted section of the B6263, London Road, Botchergate, The Crescent, Warwick Road, Rotary Way and the A69
Eastbound Vehicles: Via the unrestricted section of the B6263, London Road, Botchergate, The Crescent, Lowther Street, A7, Spencer Street, Warwick Road, Rotary Way and the A69
5. Prescott Road, Carlisle - From 26 Janaury 2023, for approx. 4 days (Ref: TTRO/2709)
From its junction with Ferguson Road, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 70m.
Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted section of Prescott Road, Diggle Road and Ferguson Road.
6. U1164 Sewell Lane, Carlisle - From 30 January 2023, for approx. 2 days (Ref: TTRO/2786)
From its junction with London Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 170m.
Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted section of Sewell Lane, London Road and Cumwhinton Road.
