SPEED LIMITS ORDER 20**
NOTICE IS GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order, to help improve road safety by slowing the speed of traffic entering and leaving the village, is to extend the existing 30mph speed limit westwards on the B4016 Drayton Road, reducing the existing 40mph speed limit by approximately 70 metres.
Additionally, to support the extended speed limit a new traffic calming chicane will be constructed on the Drayton Road, with buildouts to be located:
• South side (westbound) - approx. 20 metres west of the access to No. 9 Drayton Road,
• North side (east bound) - approx. 40 metres west of the access to No. 9 Drayton Road.
• Each chicane will be approx. 7.6m long, and 2.6m wide, reducing the width of the carriageway to 3.2m,
• Traffic travelling east into the village will be required to give-way, with priority given to traffic exiting the village travelling west.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Sutton Courtenay) (Speed Limits) Order 2021 will be revoked/replaced as required. Documents giving more details of the proposals are available for public inspection online by visiting: https://letstalk.oxfordshire.gov.uk. Copies may be made available on request.
Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the 17 February 2023. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response to this Notice. They may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
