Notice of Proposed Works on Common Land Hackney Downs Parish of Hackney Borough of Hackney County of London

The London Borough of Hackney is applying to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for consent under Article 12 of the Greater London Parks and Open Spaces Order 1967 to carry out restricted works on Hackney Downs.

The Planning Inspectorate will decide the application on behalf of the Secretary of State. The proposed works are:

* Expansion of the parks enclosed play area by 223m2, of which 30m2 will be hard standing

* An unenclosed expansion of the parks play area of 1,527m2

* Installation of a new path linking the existing play area to the expansion covering an area of 93m2

* The play area expansion will include a range of play equipment including swings and climbing structures, seating and planting. Plans can be viewed on the parks webpage

* Realignment of the northern entrance gate of the park's children's garden
