(BENSON AND EWELME AREA) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the order - in order to help improve road safety on local roads following concerns raised by the parish council - is to introduce a 20mph speed limit throughout Benson, replacing the majority of the existing 30mph speed limit within the residential areas, leading out of the village to the following points:
1. B4009 Oxford Road - a point 75 metres northwest of its roundabout junction with Churchfield Lane/Littleworth Road
2. B4009 The Sands - a point 65 metres northeast of its junction with The Meer,
3. Braze Lane (southern end) - a point 155 metres north of its junction with Brook Street,
4. Brook Street - a point 40 metres northeast of its junction with Braze Lane,
5. Church Road - its junction with the A4074,
6. Churchfield Lane - its junction with the A4074,
7. Hale Road - its junction with Port Hill Road.
Additionally, a 50mph speed limit will replace the current 60mph on the westerly unnamed road to Rokemarsh, from its junction with the B4009 The Sands northwards for a distance of 195 metres. 30mph speed limits will be retained on the non-residential sections of Beggarsbush Hill, the Benson to Ewelme road (Brook Street), B4009 Oxford Road, B4009 The Sands, and the unnamed road to Preston Crowmarsh, with Officers having taken the current road environment & traffic usage into account. Speed limits on the A4074 Henley Road will also remain unaffected by these proposals.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Benson and Ewelme Area) (Speed Limits) (No.2) Order 2022 will be revoked/replaced as necessary.
