Members' Allowances

In accordance with the Local Authority (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 the Council set up an Independent Remuneration Panel to consider the Scheme of Allowances for Councillors for 2023/24, The Council considered a report from the Independent Remuneration Panel at its meeting on 13 December 2022. They agreed the recommendations of the Panel and resolved as follows:

1 The basic allowance is £5,460 per annum.

2 That the Special Responsibility Allowances be as follows:
Leader of the Council £10,920 (2 x basic rate)
Lead Members (x 7) £5,460 (1 x basic rate)
Chair of Planning Committee £5,460 (1 x basic rate)
Chair of Licensing Committee & Regulatory Services Committee £2,730 (half of basic rate)
Chair of Audit Committee £2,730 (half of basic rate)
Other Group Leaders:
Main Opposition Leader £4,095 (0.75% of basic rate)
Other Opposition Leader (x 1) £1,638 p.3% of basic rate)
Travel Allowance 52.2p per mile
Dependant & Carer Allowance £12.50 per hour
