High Street (Chalgrove) Proposed Raised Zebra Crossing And Traffic Calming Features

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council as the local highway authority under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers proposes to construct the following traffic features on High Street in Chalgrove to help improve road and pedestrian safety in the area as a result of the development of adjacent land: Raised Zebra Crossing (a crossing for use by pedestrians) to be sited on a new flat top road hump approx. 7m wide and 75mm high, with ramp gradient of between 1:15 and 1:20 to be located at approx. 160* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane.
Raised Flat Top Humps (with ramp heights of 75mm, & gradients of 1:15) to be located at:

* 230* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, to be approx. 6m wide,

* 320* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, to be approx. 21m wide,

* 480* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, to be approx. 26m wide, and

* 620* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, 6m long.

Traffic priority calming build-outs (narrowing the carriageway to approx. 3.4 m with informal crossing points) to be located at:
* 55* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, priority will be given to traffic travelling westwards,

* 550* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, priority will be given to traffic travelling eastwards, and

* 800* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane, priority will be given to traffic travelling westwards.

Bus Stop Clearways (with a 'No Stopping except local buses' restriction):

* South side - 280* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane,

North side - 360* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane,

Northeast side - 860* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane and

Southwest side - 900* metres west of its junction with Marley Lane.

* all dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Additionally, these measures will be accompanied by associated footway improvement works and re-alignment of the existing carriageway.

Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made and any other representations, should be sent in writing to the address below (or via the web address above) no later than 13 January 2023.
