(Schools Streets) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles] (TemporaryTraffic Regulation) Order 2021 (Extension)

On the 2nd December 2022 in exercise of the powers in section 15(3) of the RoadTraffic Regulation Act 1984 and following a request from East Renfrewshire Council ("the local traffic authority") in relation to the above named order, the Scottish Ministers give a direction that the order shall continue in force for a further period of six months from the date on which it would otherwise cease to be in force. The Order, which came into force on 7 June 2021 and would have expired on 6 December 2022 had the direction not been given, shall continue in force until 6 June 2023.

The Order is considered necessary in the interests of public safety for preventing the use of the road by vehicular traffic of a kind which, or its use by vehiculartraffic in a manner which, is unsuitable having regard to the existing character of the road or adjoining property, because of the likelihood of danger to the public.
The restriction imposed by the Order prohibits unauthorised vehicular access to Academy Road over its full length, from its junction with St Catharine's Road to Orchard Park, between 8:30am-9:30am & 2:30pm-3:30pm Monday to Friday during school term.

The alternative route for restricted vehicles is St Catharine's Road -Fenwick Road.
