THE PEACEHAVEN CO-OPERATIVE LEARNING TRUST STATUTORY NOTICE
Notice ID:
THE PEACEHAVEN CO-OPERATIVE LEARNING TRUST STATUTORY NOTICE Notice is given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that:
the Governing Body of Peacehaven Community School intends to make a prescribed alteration to Peacehaven Community School which is a Community Secondary School located at Peacehaven Community School, Greenwich Way, Peacehaven BN10 8RB
The proposed alteration is to: Change school category from Community to Foundation and together with one or more of the proposed partners to acquire a trust established otherwise than under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
The proposed name of the foundation will be The Peacehaven Co-operative Learning Trust and the proposed implementation date is 1st August 2013.
The Peacehaven Co-operative Learning Trust does not already act as a foundation for any school.
The partners in the proposed trust are:
- East Sussex Local Authority (1 Trustee)
- Wave Leisure Trust (1 Trustee)
- Albion in the Community (1 Trustee)
- The Co-operative College (1 Trustee)
- Peacehaven Community School (2 Trustees)
In addition learners at each of the schools, parents, staff, members of the local community and local community organisations will be able to become members of the Trust. The Trust will have a Stakeholder Forum composed of members, which will be able to appoint 2 of the Trust's trustees. As the Trust develops the Trust will welcome other schools joining the Trust.
The rationale for acquiring the Trust, the contribution it will make, and the direction it will provide to the school can be summarised as follows:
Peacehaven Community School wishes to serve its community by ensuring that all our students fulfil their potential by achieving academically and growing as responsible citizens of an exciting but complex world. We will seek partners who support our ambitions and who will share their skills to create a broader range of opportunities for your young people so that on leaving the school a better future is assured.
We hope to not only enhance the life chances of every pupil that passes through our own school, but to have an enduring positive impact on the wider community as well. We believe that as a Co-operative Trust School we will be able to further develop our community and social dimensions. We believe that embracing the Co-operative Values formally will reinforce the values held by this young school since it began in 2001. As we grow into maturity we wish to re-acknowledge these values and strengthen them.
