J5-J8 of M5 Motorway, Temporary Traffic Restrictions

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTIONS 14(1)(a) AND (7) AND PARAGRAPH 27(1) OF SCHEDULE 9 THE M5 MOTORWAY (BETWEEN JUNCTION 5 AND JUNCTION 8) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to revoke an existing Order and make a new Order on the M5 Motorway, in the Counties of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, to enable safety barrier, lighting and drainage works to be carried out. The effect of the Order, will be to, at different times, -
(1) impose a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on -
(a) the southbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 656 metres northeast of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge, at Oddingley, to a point 680 metres northeast of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge, at Brockhill;
(b) the northbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 533 metres southwest of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge, to a point 1040 metres southwest of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge;
(c) any slip road leading to or from the M5 at Junction 6; and
(d) any slip road leading to or from the M5 at Junction 7;
(2) close lanes of -
(a) the southbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 1837 metres southwest of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge, to a point 789 metres northeast of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge; and
(b) the northbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 75m northeast of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge, to a point 1613 metres southwest of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge and allow traffic to run on the hard shoulder; and
(3) prohibit any vehicle with an overall width of 2 metres from entering or proceeding in the offside lane of -
(a) the southbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 244 metres southwest of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge, to a point 789 metres northeast of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge; and
(b) the northbound carriageway of the M5 from a point 75m northeast of the centreline of Hatfield Bank overbridge, to a point 1133 metres southwest of the centreline of Green Lane underbridge.
This is ongoing work which is expected to continue for approximately three months. The speed restriction, hard shoulder running, and width restriction will be in operation for 24 hours per day, for the duration of the works. The Order will come into force on Tuesday 27 December 2022.
vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions and width restrictions. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restrictions, and vehicles being used for traffic officer purposes, in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the width restriction.
