NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that application is being made to Parliament in the present Session by the City of London Corporation ("the Corporation") for a Bill under the above name or short title for the purposes of which the following is a concise summary: -

To provide for the relocation of Billingsgate Market and the London Central Markets, also known as Smithfield market, ("the markets"), which are owned and operated by the Corporation, to a new site in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham shown on a map copies of which have been deposited with the Town Clerk of the Corporation and with the City Remembrancer at their respective offices in the Guildhall, Gresham Street, London, EC2V 7HH and at the office of the Chief Executive of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham at Town Hall, Town Hall Square, Barking IG11 7LU.
With respect to legislation that specifically relates to the markets, to provide for the application of the Billingsgate Market Acts and the London Central Markets Acts to the markets on the new site, subject to certain repeals and amendments.
To make provision for the release from restrictions on use of the land comprising the existing sites of the markets and to make provision for traders in the markets, including, in certain circumstances, placing a duty on the Corporation to offer accommodation at the new site to market traders and other market-related businesses at the existing sites. To make provision for land to be added to or removed from the site to enable the size of the site to be adjusted; for powers to develop the site and appoint another person to operate a market or manage the site; for the fixing of market days and hours; for fixed penalty notices for contravention of traffic directions within the site or any byelaws, together with provision enabling authorised officers to require any person suspected of such contravention to provide the person's name and address.
On and after 4 December 2022 a copy of the Bill may be inspected and copies of it obtained at the price of £1 each at the office of the City Remembrancer, Guildhall, Gresham Street, London, EC2V 7HH during the hours of 9.30 to 17.00 Mondays to Fridays (closed 23 December and on Saturdays and Sundays and bank holidays).

Objection to the Bill may be made by depositing a Petition against it in the Private Bill Office of the House of Commons, if the Bill is introduced in that House or in the Office of the Clerk of the Parliaments, if the Bill is introduced in the House of Lords. The latest date for the deposit of such a Petition in the First House will be 30 January 2023 if the Bill originates in the House of Commons, or 6 February 2023 if it originates in the House of Lords.
