The A297 Gla Road (Morden Hall Road, London Borough Of Merton) (Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic) Order 2022

1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Borough of Merton hereby gives notice that it has made the above-named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

2. The purpose of the Order is to enable resurfacing works to take place on the A297 Morden Hall Road.

3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

(1) entering, exiting or proceeding on the circulatory system at the junctions of A239 Morden Road/Central Road, A297 St Helier Avenue/Morden Hall Road and Bayham Road (Morden Hall Roundabout);

(2) entering or proceeding in a southerly direction on Morden Hall Road between its junctions with the A24 Morden Road/London Road and Morden Hall Roundabout;

(3) entering or proceeding on Central Road in a north-easterly direction between its junctions with Brunton Road and Morden Hall Roundabout;

(4) entering or proceeding on Bristol Road in an easterly direction between its junctions with Brunton Road and A297 St Heliers Avenue, local access will be maintained to St Heliers Avenue;

(5) entering or proceeding on Bayham Road between its junctions with Beeleigh Road and Morden Hall Roundabout;

(6) entering or proceeding on A239 Morden Road in a westerly direction between its junctions with Morden Hall Road Roundabout and London Road, Local access will be maintained;

(7) entering or proceeding on St Heliers Avenue in a northerly direction between its junctions with Rose Hill Roundabout and Morden Hall Roundabout, local access will be maintained between Rose Hill Roundabout and Bristol Road;

(8) stopping on St Heliers Avenue western kerb line between its junctions with Bristol Road and Morden Hall Roundabout;

The Order will also:
(9) permit two-way operation on Bayham Road between its junctions with Beeleigh Road and Morden Hall Roundabout.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.
The Order will be effective between 23rd November 2022 and 31 st May 2023 every night from 9:00 PM until 05:00 AM or when those works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

4. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

(1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

(2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

5. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs. For Morden Hall Road southbound via London Road, Epsom Road, Stonecot Hill, London Road, Ewell Bypass, Reigate Road, Fir Tree Road, Brighton Road, Belmont Rise, St Dunstans Hill, Oldfields Road and Reigate Avenue to normal route of travel. For St Heliers Avenue closure via Green Lane, Central Road, London Road, Crown Road, Crown Lane and London Road to normal route of travel, (for the closure of A297 Morden Hall Road) London Road, Central Road, Green Lane to normal route of travel. Priory Road, Merton High Street, Morden Road and Mertuan Way to normal route of travel, (for the closure Morden Road) London Road, Bishopsford Road and St Helier Road to normal route of travel, (for the closure of A297 St Helier Avenue) Green Lane, London Road and Morden Hall Road to normal route or travel.
