Proposal to Expand Philip Southcote School.

Notice ID: MFN0684672

Notice effective from
17th November 2022 to 17th December 2022

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Statutory Notice Philip Southcote School
Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, as amended by the Education Act 2011 and The School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013, that Surrey County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to Philip Southcote School, Addlestone Moor, Addlestone KT15 2QH from 1 September 2023.
Surrey County Council in partnership with The Governing Body of Philip Southcote School, Epsom & Ewell High and The Bourne Education Trust, are proposing to expand Philip Southcote School on a satellite site at Epsom and Ewell High School, creating 20 additional places for pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), known locally in Surrey as Learning and Additional Needs (LAN), aged 11-16 years old with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in Surrey.
All pupils, regardless of the site they attend, will be on the roll of Philip Southcote School. Numbers at the expanded school will grow incrementally, although where there are spaces and demand, new pupils may be accepted in other year groups, where appropriate.
Surrey County Council has complied with all applicable statutory requirements to consult in connection with this proposal. At the conclusion of the Notice period, if permission is granted by the Surrey Cabinet Member for Education and Learning, Surrey County Council will implement the proposal. A project to refurbish and repurpose existing space will be undertaken on the existing site of Epsom and Ewell High School to provide the additional capacity, for which the relevant permissions will be sought.
