The County Council of Durham (Leazes Footbridge, Leazes Road, Durham City) (Temporary Footbridge Closure) Order 2022

The Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on Leazes Footbridge, Durham City, to enable bridge investigation and testing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the southern side of the closure easterly to Gilesgate Bank and crossings to Station Lane and north across A690 then west to Gilesgate and crossing to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are to commence on 28/11/22 and are anticipated to be completed in 5 days. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
