A34 (Bullington Cross To Litchfield Interchange) Trunk Road Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to: -

1. authorise the overnight closure of the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Bullington Cross (A33/A303) and Litchfield Interchange, and all slip roads leading to and from this length.

2. authorise the 24-hour closure of all lay-bys adjacent to the length of carriageway in 1. above.

3. impose a 24-hour 50mph restriction on the length of carriageway in 1. above.

4. impose a 24-hour 7.5 tonne weight restriction on lane 2 in the length of carriageway in 1. above.

5. impose a 24-hour width restriction of

3.25 metres in lane 1 and 3.0 metres in lane 2 on the length of carriageway in 1. above. These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake barrier replacement and all associated works. It is expected that the work will last for approximately 4 months starting on or after Monday 7th November 2022. The overnight closures will take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum periods). The Order will come into force on 5th November 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Through traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using the A303, A339, B4640 and the A34. Local traffic may use the A34 northbound from Bullington Cross to Tufton Junction and Litchfield Interchange to Tot Hill Interchange. The temporary speed limit, weight restriction, width restriction, closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
