The County Of Cumbria (A683 Middleton Bridge, Middleton, Little Beckfoot Bridge, Old Scotch Road, Sedbergh And Ulpha Bridge, Broughton-In-Furness (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Metcalfe Plant Hire to carry out bridge repair works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the following sections of road:-
1. A683 Middleton Bridge, Middleton: From its junction with Jordan Lane extending in a north westerly direction to its junction with the B6256.
Alternative route: Via unrestricted sections of A683, A684, A5284, A591, A590, and A65.
From 7 November 2022 for approx. 5 nights (between 2000 and
0600)
2. Little Beckfoot Bridge, Old Scotch Road, Sedbergh: From its junction with the B6257 extending in a westerly direction for approx. 180m.
Alternative route: Via the B6257, A685, C5069, and U5293.
From 21 November 2022 for approx. 5 days
3. Ulpha Bridge, Broughton-in-Furness: From its junction with Bobbin Mill Hill extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 75m.
Alternative Route: Via the C4028, A595, and C5007.
From 7 November 2022 for approx. 2 weeks Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.
The above closures will not necessarily be done in numerical order.
The contractor will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The reference to quote is SL22CCC/11/5.
The Order will come into operation on 7 November 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as specified above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
