NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDER Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 BRIGHTON & HOVE CITY COUNCIL Brighton (Downland) Definitive Map and Statement THE BRIGHTON & HOVE (Brighton Footpaths H23 & H24) BENFIELD VALLEY DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2022 The above Order made on 12th October 2022, if confirmed as made will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding to them the footpaths described in the Schedule below. A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at the front entrance at Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, BN3 3BQ during normal office hours and on the noticeboard outside Hove Town Hall and online at:

libraries/parks-and-green-spaces/rights-way Copies of the Order and the Order Map may be obtained free of charge on request to Hove Town Hall.
Any representation or objection relating to the order must be sent in writing to the Rights of Way officer at Stanmer Nursery, Stanmer Park, Lewes Road, Brighton BN1 9SE or by e-mail to
not later than the 1 December 2022, and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.
If no representations or objections are duly made to the order or if any so made are withdrawn, Brighton & Hove City Council, instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation may confirm the Order. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it.

1. Footpath H23
A footpath commencing at TQ26376 07387 at Restricted Byway H11b (near Meads Avenue) running in a north westerly direction for 30 metres then a northerly direction for 190 metres to terminate at TQ26293 07577 at Restricted Byway H11b (near A27 Footbridge) with a width of 1.5 metres
2. Footpath H24
A footpath commencing at TQ26353 07398 running in a westerly direction for 98.8 metres with a width of 1.5 metres to terminate at TQ26260 07362
