Section 53a(2) (Public Bridleway No. 5 Sherburn Parish And No.38 Shadforth Parish) Public Bridleway Diversion And Definitive Map And Statement Modification Order 2020
On 3 August 2022, The Secretary of State confirmed the above order. The effect of the order as confirmed will divert Public Bridleway No. 5 Sherburn Parish and No. 38 Shadforth Parish from a point on Cookshold Lane, proceeding in a generally south-easterly direction past Cook's Hold Farm and the timber yard to a point just north of the houses at Kell Crescent to a line running from a point further west on Cookshold Lane, proceeding in a generally south-westerly then south-easterly then southerly direction, then easterly on the line of the existing Footpath No. 42 Shadforth Parish to the same point north of Kell Crescent, as shown on the order map.

The County Council Of Durham (Public Footpath N0.42 Shadforth Parish And No.33 Sherburn Parish) Public Footpath Diversion And Definitive Map And Statement Modification Order 2020
On 7 October 2022, The County Council of Durham confirmed the above order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed is to divert Public Footpath No. 42 Shadforth Parish from a point north-west of Kell Crescent, proceeding in a generally westerly then northerly direction to a point at the junction with Public Footpath No. 33 Sherburn Parish to a line running from the new route of Bridleway No. 38 Shadforth, proceeding in a generally westerly direction to join and extend Footpath No. 33 Sherburn as shown on the order map. The above order will also modify the Definitive Map and Statement of the Public Rights of Way for County Durham by deleting and adding the footpath described.
A copy of the above orders as confirmed and the order maps have been placed and may be seen free of charge during normal opening hours at Belmont Library and via the councils website. The orders came into force as from 3 August 2022 and 7 October 2022 (respectively), but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 of the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 of the Act, within six weeks from 13 October 2022 make an application to the High Court.
