A3 Trunk Road (Esher To Hook) Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A3 Trunk Road in the County of Surrey, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prevent traffic incursion into works being undertaken by Transport for London (TfL). The effect of the Order would be to authorise the phased overnight closure of the London-bound carriageway of the A3 between Esher Interchange (A244) and a point 233 metres east of the road connecting the eastbound carriageway of the A309 to the London-bound carriageway of the A3 (the Transport for London authority boundary), and all slip/link roads leading to this length of carriageway. These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of TfL undertake cyclical maintenance on their section of the A3. It is expected that the first phase of work would start on or after Friday 4th November 2022 for 3 nights. The second phase would start on or after 22nd May 2023 for 3 nights. The third phase would start on or after 3rd November 2023 for 3 nights. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 4th November 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closure would be diverted
using the A244, A307, A309 and Hook Rise North.
The temporary closures and diversion route
would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when
they are in operation during the works period.
