London Borough of Haringey Initial Demolition Notice

Under schedule 5a of the Housing Act 1985 as amended
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The Mayor and Burgesses of the London Borough of Haringey of Civic Centre High Road Wood Green London N22 8LE ("the Council") Intends to demolish the following building situated at the Broadwater Farm Estate Tottenham London N17 namely Stapleford, Willan Road, London, N17 6NA (Numbers 25 to 36 and 61 to 72) known as the Stapleford North Wing block and collectively referred to as "the Relevant Premises". The reason for the intended demolition of the Relevant Premises is to facilitate the wider estate improvement programme and to enable the building of new safety compliant homes and facilities to replace the Relevant Premises noting this to be linked with the authorised demolition and redevelopment of the Northolt block at Griffin Road London N17 which is connected to the Relevant Premises via a link bridge and which has been identified as failing to meet required building regulation standards.

It is the Council's intention that the proposed demolition of the Relevant Premises will be carried out by 3rd October 2029 being no more than seven years after the date of service of this notice and being a reasonable period within which to carry out the proposed demolition and linking this to the demolition works to the Northolt block as above mentioned.
The Council will be serving initial demolition notices upon the tenants of the Relevant Premises. These notices will remain in force until 3rd October 2029 unless extended, revoked or otherwise terminated by virtue of paragraph 3 of Schedule 5A of the Housing Act 1985.

Whilst the notices are in force the Council will not be under any obligation to make a grant of the freehold or of a lease of any dwelling house comprised in the Relevant Premises in respect of any claim to exercise the right to buy in respect of any of the Relevant Premises.

There may be a right to compensation under the Housing Act 1985 Section 138C in respect of certain expenditure incurred in respect of any existing claim in respect of any of the Relevant Premises. You may obtain further information about this Notice from: David Clark
