(Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in North Yorkshire, to enable carriageway resurfacing, road markings, white lining and general maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on Friday 4 November 2022 for 17 days, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, between 8pm on Friday and 6am on Monday, continuing between the same times over subsequent weekends, to:

(i) close the A64 from the B1258 Malton Road to Staxton Roundabout, a distance of 15960 metres;

(ii) close the A64 eastbound carriageway between the exit and entry slip roads at Old Malton Interchange, a distance of
668 metres;

(iii) close the laybys adjacent to the above mentioned (i); and

(iv) ban traffic from entering or leaving the above mentioned (i).

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

It will be necessary to impose, at times during the works, overnight between 8pm and 6am, a temporary 30mph and 10mph speed restriction on the lengths of carriageway mentioned above in (i) and (ii). The 10mph limit will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance). The Order comes into force on 3 November 2022 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
