(Junctions 39-40 Carriageways) (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M6 Motorway, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable construction of two crossover points, central barrier removal and replacement, drainage, resurfacing, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety.
The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the following sections of the M6 Motorway:
i. the southbound carriageway, from a point 65 metres north of the Penrith Interchange South Bridge, to a point 675 metres south of the Hackthorpe Bridge;
ii. the northbound carriageway, from a point 180 metres north of the Greenriggs Bridge, to a point 325 metres north of the Mayburgh Bridge;
iii. the southbound J40 entry slip road. The restrictions are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on
Monday 10 October 2022 and ending at 06:00 on Monday 19 December 2022.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods or until completed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 9 October 2022 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information, contact
