The County Of Cumbria (Crossways, And Botchergate, Tait Street And Crown Street, Carlisle, And C1031 Talkin)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out highways works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:-
1. Crossways, Carlisle: From its junction with Hazel Dene extending in a north easterly direction for approx 70m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of Crossways, Hillary Grove and Hazel Dene.
From 24 October 2022 for approx. 5 days (Ref: CA-22-80)
2. Botchergate, Crown Street and Tait Street, Carlisle Botchergate: From its junction with Portland Place extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 180m.
Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of Botchergate, St Nicholas Street, Blackwell Road, Currock Road, Currock Street, James Street, Victoria Viaduct, Devonshire Street, Lowther Street, Victoria Place, Spencer Street, Warwick Road, and The Crescent.
Weekend diversion: via St Nicholas Street, Blackwell Road,
Currock Road, Currock Street, James Street, Victoria Viaduct,
Devonshire Street, Lowther Street, Victoria Place, Spencer
Street, Warwick Road, and The Crescent.
Crown Street: From its junction with Lancaster Street extending
in a north easterly direction for approx. 80m.
Alternative routes:-
Eastbound: via the unrestricted section of Crown Street, Currock Road, Blackwell Road, St Nicholas Street and Botchergate. West bound: via Botchergate, St Nicholas Street, Blackwell Road, Currock Road, Currock Street, James Street, Victoria Viaduct, Devonshire Street, Lowther Street, Victoria Place, Spencer Street, Warwick Road, The Crescent and Botchergate. Tait Street, Carlisle: From its junction with Cecil Street extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 140m. Alternative route: via Cecil Street, Warwick Road, The Crescent, English Street, Victoria Viaduct, James Street, Currock Street, Currock Road, Blackwell Road, St Nicholas Street and Botchergate.
From 10 October 2022 for approx. 5 nights between 1900 and 0500 (Ref: CA-22-111)
N.B. The closures in 2 above will operate concurrently.
3. C1031 Talkin: From its junction with B6413 extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 1.2km.
Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of the B6413 and the U1206.
From 10 October 2022 for approx. 5 days (Ref: CA-22-107) A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote as specified above.
The Order will come into operation on 10 October 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
