The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads, Carlisle City & District) (Consolidation And Provision Of Speed Limits) (No. 9) Order 20><

1. Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The effect of the proposed Order will be to consolidate the provisions of The County of Cumbria (Various Roads, Carlisle City & District) (Consolidation and Provision of Speed Limits) (No. 8) Order 2021; and introduce the following proposals, into one concise Order: -

The proposals are: -
(i) To extend the existing 30 mph speed restriction (in place due to the presence of street lighting), to include the whole of Barras Lane and Barras Brow from the unnamed road adjacent to the Oil Storage Depot in Dalston for a distance of 510m;

(ii) To extend the existing 30 mph speed limit restriction (in place due to the presence of street lighting), on Orton Road, Carlisle, by approximately 191m in a south-westerly direction; and

(iii) To amend the existing 40 mph speed limit restriction on Orton Road, Carlisle, to

read:- "from a point 77m south west of the centre line of its junction with
Sandsfield Road for a distance of 381m in a south-westerly direction". (Note: - We are reducing the length of the 40mph "on the ground" by approximately 191m in a south westerly direction)
