The County Of Cumbria (C4033 Coach Road And U4354 The Gardens,
Whitehaven) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to;
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C4033 Coach Road, Whitehaven, from its junction with Preston Street, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 140m. Alternative Routes;
North East Bound Vehicles: via Preston Street, Swingpump Lane, Strand Street, Tangier Street, George Street, Church Street, Duke Street, Scotch Street, Lowther Street, Flatt Walks and Coach Road; and
South West Bound Vehicles: via Coach Road, Flatt Walks, Lowther Street, Scotch Street, Irish Street and Preston Street. Duration: From 24 October 2022 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: CO22-134).
2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a south easterly direction along that section of the U4354 The Gardens, Whitehaven, from its junction with Coach Road extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 200m. Alternative Route for north west bound vehicles; via Station Road and Coach Road.
Duration: From 24 October 2022 for approx. 5 weeks (Ref: CO22-170).
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and (iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote are stated above.
The Order will come into operation on 24 October 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
