Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 29th day of September 2022 in respect of the location numbered (1). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (2) & (3).

(1) Fossgate & Walmgate. York

This Order introduces Loading Bay's in (i) Walmgate, York, on its southwest side, from the south-eastern property boundary line of No. 13 Walmgate southeast for 13 metres; (ii) Fossgate, York, on its west side, between the south-eastern property boundary line of No. 34 Fossgate and the north­western property boundary line of No. 2 Walmgate and (iii) Fossgate, York, on its west side, between points 55m and 61 m from the projected south-eastern highway boundary line of Lady Pecketts Yard (restricted roads) between 0800hrs on Saturday, 1 October 2022 and 1800hrs on Tuesday, 28 February 2023. This is to facilitate nearby pavement cafes and business operations. The loading bay restrictions will be in operation, each day from 0800hrs until 1800hrs.

(2) Church Lane. York

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Church Lane, York between its junction with Low Ousegate and a location 19 metres north-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when building maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001 hrs on Monday, 10 October 2022 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 11 November 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.

(3) Hyrst Grove. York

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hyrst Grove, York (closed road) during the period when footway reconstruction works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 10 October 2022 and ending at 1630hrs on Saturday, 12 November 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1630hrs each day. Residential Parking Permit holders for zone R17 will be allowed to park in zone R55 for the duration of the works only.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
