York, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 22nd day of September 2022 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2) & (3). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the location numbered (4).

(1) King Street York
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on King Street, York between its junction with Clifford Street and a location 40 metres south west of said junction (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Tuesday, 27 September 2022 and ending at 1530hrs on Tuesday, 27 September 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, the 'ONE WAY' direction of traffic flow in King's Staith and King Street are suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said roads. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(2) Ascot Way York
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Ascot Way, York between the projected eastern boundary of property No 72 and the projected south-western boundary of property No 81 (closed road) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Monday, 26 September 2022 and ending at 1530hrs on Friday, 30 September 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.

(3) Clifton Ings National Cycle Network Route No 651 (Continuation). York
The Secretary of State for Transport has approved the continuing of The York (Clifton Ings National Cycle Network Route No 65) (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2022 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue in force the prohibition on vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of National Cycle Network Route No 65 on Clifton Ings, York between its junction with Public Right Of Way 26/4/10 and the junction with Public Right Of Way 27/1/10 (closed cycleway) during the period when flood defence works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0000 hours on the Wednesday, 5 October 2022 and ending at 2359hrs on the Tuesday, 16 July 2024 (works period) or at the end of the works period whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and cyclists will be signed during the works period.

(4) Fossgate & walmgate. York
This Order will introduce Loading Bay's in (i) Walmgate, York, on its southwest side, from the south-eastern property boundary line of No. 13 Walmgate southeast for 13 metres; (ii) Fossgate, York, on its west side, between the south-eastern property boundary line of No. 34 Fossgate and the north-western property boundary line of No. 2 Walmgate and (Hi) Fossgate, York, on its west side, between points 55m and 61 m from the projected south-eastern highway boundary line of Lady Pecketts Yard (restricted roads) between 0800hrs on Saturday, 1 October 2022 and 1800hrs on Tuesday, 28 February 2023 . This is to facilitate nearby pavement cafes and business operations. The loading bay restrictions will be in operation, each day from 0800hrs until 1800hrs.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
