Croydon, Traffic Notices
Notice ID: SUT2515490
Official Notice
(a) To introduce a CCTV camera enforced restriction to prohibit motor vehicles (with the exception of buses, taxis and permit holders, "SR") from access to and egress from Sutherland Road at its junction with Canterbury Road (closure points at the north-western boundary of No. 47 Canterbury Road and the north-western wall of Nos. 47a and 47b Canterbury Road).
(b) To introduce loading restrictions operating "at any time" on both sides of Sutherland Road between its junction with Canterbury Road and a point 20.6 metres south of that junction (the loading restrictions will be the same length as existing double yellow line waiting restrictions at the junction).
(c) To amend the map-based tiles to the Schedules attached to the above Orders so as to accurately represent the new arrangements as they exist on site.
(d) In addition to buses, licensed taxis and permit holders, the prohibited access restriction will not apply to the emergency services, refuse vehicles, or vehicles being used for the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency (such as the loss of utility supplies to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought into a section of road to which the order applies). Permits will be available free of charge to residents within the "SR" exemption zone, as well as Blue Badge holders, District Nurses, carers, and school staff. Further exemptions may be added or removed as the scheme progresses. More detailed information about permit eligibility is available on our website at www.croydon.gov.uk/healthyneighbourhoods.
3. Copies of the Orders, which will come into operation on 30 September 2022, and of the Council's statement of reasons for proposing the scheme and of the plans which indicate the lengths of road to which the scheme relates, can be inspected by appointment with the Parking Design Team, at Bernard Wetherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon,
CRO 1EA (telephone 020 8726 6000 and ask for Parking Design). Alternatively all related documents or further information can be requested by email to Parking.Design@croydon.gov.uk.
4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made there under have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
5. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the experimental Orders should be continued in force indefinitely by means of Orders made under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to The Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, and all other enabling powers. Any person may object to the making
of the Orders for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the experimental Orders come into force (i.e., by 30 March 2023) or, if the Orders are varied by another Order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force. Any such objection must be in writing, quoting the reference PD/CHN/ Sutherland Rd, must state the grounds on which it is made and be emailed to sutherland.hn@croydon.gov.uk, or posted to the Parking Design Team, at Bernard Wetherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA. Further information on how to object is available on our website at www.croydon.gov.uk/healthyneighbourhoods.
