NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF SUPPLEMENTARY PLANNING DOCUMENT

In accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, regulations 14 and 35, notice is hereby given that the Council has adopted the South Norwood Conservation Area Appraisal Management Plan (CAAMP) as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on the 25 July 2022.
A draft of the above document was consulted on between 6 January 2022 and 17 February 2022. Following consultation, the document was modified to reflect the outcome of the consultation in accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended), section 23.

NOTICE OF BOUNDARY AMENDMENTS TO THE SOUTH NORWOOD CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is given that the London Borough of Croydon has amended the boundary of the South Norwood Conservation Area as follows:
The following areas have been included in the Conservation Area:
Nos. 6-18 Lawrence Road (evens), South Norwood Delivery Office - Royal Mail, Holmesdale Road, Baptist Church corner of Oliver Road & Holmesdale Road, 363- 391 Holmesdale Road (odds), 1-12 Holmesdale Close (odds and evens), 10-20 Lancaster Road (evens), 53 Warminster Road, no. 67 Albert Road forecourt only, no. 69-75 Albert Road (odds) nos.85-95 Albert Road (odds) 44-48 Albert Road (evens), 65-101 Portland Road (odds), 40-110 Portland Road (evens), Goods Shed and Platforms Norwood Junction Station Station Road, 1-3 Cargreen Road (odds),
The following areas have been excluded from the Conservation Area:
All properties on Chalfont Road, 26 & 28 Doyle Road.
The boundary changes were approved by Croydon Council on the 25 July 2022. They were justified by assessment of the areas during the production of a Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan for South Norwood Conservation Area.
The principal effects of the above properties being included within a Conservation Area are as follows:
1. The Council is under a duty to ensure the preservation or enhancement of the character of the conservation area.
2. Planning permission must be obtained from the Council for the demolition of any building in the area.
3. There are some restrictions to permitted development rights as a result of conservation area designation.
4. Special publicity must be given to planning applications for development in the area.
5. In carrying out any functions under the Planning Acts (and, in particular, in determining applications for planning permission and listed building consent), the Council and the Secretary of State are required to take into account the desirability of preserving and enhancing the character of the conservation areas.
6. Six weeks' notice must be given to the Council before works are carried out to any tree in the area.
