Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Shipton on Cherwell Footpath over Bridges 219 Shipton Lift Bridge and 219A Railway Bridge
Date of Order: 19 April 2022
Came into force: 28 April 2022

This Order was introduced because of a danger to the public from unsafe bridge structures. The effect of the Order is to close temporarily Bridges 219 and 219A to enable repair work to the lift bridge. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
The alternative route for those affected by the closure is via Shipton Bridge 220.
This Order, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport will remain in force until 28 February 2023 or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.
