The Dorset Council (Shore Road, Swanage) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) (Experimental Order) 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of Dorset has made the above-mentioned Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended: Relevant exemptions will apply where appropriate and as necessary in accordance with the provisions of the Order.

The Order will come into operation on 1st October 2022 on an experimental basis. The effect of the order will be to extend the current seasonal Prohibition of Vehicles restriction to cover the full year. The reasons for proceeding by way of experimental order is to:

* allow the scheme to complete a formal public consultation process to be undertaken

* to determine if the restriction works as the Town Council has proposed.

* determine how background traffic navigates around the closure throughout the winter months, which ultimately will have impact on other parts of the network.

The order shall cease to have effect 18 months after it comes into operation or when a further order to reproduce and continue in force indefinitely the provisions of this experimental order is made, whichever is earliest.
