Footpath 10 and 40, Temporary Closure

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -
SECTION 14(1) PARISH OF SANDHOE AND CORBRIDGE PUBLIC FOOTPATHS NUMBERS 10 AND 40 (TEMPORARY PUBLIC FOOTPATH CLOSURE) EXTENSION ORDER 2022 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that THE Secretary of State has agreed to extend the closure of Public Footpath No 10 in the Parish of Sandhoe and Public Footpath No 40 in the Parish of Corbridge, in the County of Northumberland. The lengths of Public Footpath No 10 & No 40 which are affected are as follows:-From a point marked on the south side of the B6318 (Military Road) at the junction with the U8181 road (Byway No 7) in a general easterly direction for a distance of1320 metres to a point on the U8179 road 230 metres north of Portgate Farm Cottage.
There is an alternative route available from a point on the southside of the B6318 (Military Road) at the junction with the U8181 road (Byway No 7) in a southerly direction for a distance of 120 metres then continuing in a general easterly direction for a distance of 1330 metres to join the U8179 road, then in a northerly direction for a distance of 30 metres to a point on the U8179 road at the junction with Public Footpath No 36, 210 metres north of Portgate Farm. The Order which came into force on the 1st April 2022 and which would have expired on the 1st October 2022 will continue to be in force until 1st October 2023 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.
The extension has been requested by Stagshaw Estates in the interests of public safety to enable the continued clearance of storm damaged woodland. Enquiries should be made to Tim Fish, Area Countryside Officer, by email to
