Hamsterley Mill, Temporary Byway Closure

(Byway No 65 Consett Parish, Hamsterley Mill) (Temporary Byway Closure) Order 2021

The above-named Order made by the Council on 5/3/21, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 17/3/21 and was subsequently extended to 17/9/22 has been continued in force from 18/9/22, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 17/9/23 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to prohibit all traffic from proceeding on 450 metres of Byway Number 65 Consett Parish that extends southwards from its junction with B6310, Hamsterley Mill by reason of likelihood of danger to the public and to permit land slip remedial works to be carried out on or adjacent to the said byway. Alternative route for pedestrian traffic from the northern side of the closure easterly on B6310 for approximately 115 metres (note there is no footway along this section of road) then southerly on Footpath number.164 Stanley Parish then turning south westerly and north westerly on Footpath Number.173 and southerly on Footpath Number.175 then westerly and northerly on Footpath Number.177 crossing the Footbridge onto Footpath Number.65 Consett Parish to Byway Mumber.65 to the southern side of the closure and vice versa. Other routes are also available via public rights of way in this area.
