A34 Trunk Road (Oxfordshire) Temporary Traffic Restrictions

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A34 Trunk Road in the County of Oxfordshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise: -
1. the overnight weekday closure of the northbound carriageway of the A34 between Marcham Interchange (A415) and Lodge Hill Interchange (A4183), and the slip road leading to it at Marcham Interchange (A415); and

2. the 24-hour closure of any lay-by adjacent to the length of carriageway described in 1. above.

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake survey works to investigate embankment defects, to include ground investigation, topographic survey, drainage survey and vegetation clearance. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 3 weeks starting on or after Monday 10th October 2022. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 05:00 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 8th October 2022 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via the A415, Colwell Drive, Copenhagen Drive, Dunmore Road, and the A4183. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
