TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the 8th day of September 2022 in respect of the locations numbered (1). Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the location numbered (2) & (3).
(1) THE SHAMBLES & PAVEMENT. YORK This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on The Shambles, York between its junction with Pavement and the projected southern boundary of property No 28 (closed road) during the period when building maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Sunday, 11 September 2022 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 21 October 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, all vehicles & pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding and waiting in that length of the footway on the northern side of Pavement between its junctions with Parliament Street and The Shambles (closed footway). It is envisaged that the Shambles will only be closed overnight only between 2000hrs on Sunday, 11 September 2022 until 0600hrs on Friday, 21 September 2022. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period.
(2) HESSAY LEVEL CROSSING. HESSAY This Order will prohibit vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Hessay Level Crossing on New Road, Hessay (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2200hrs on Monday, 19 September 2022 and ending at 0630hrs on Tuesday, 20 September 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period.
(3) SWANN STREET & CYGNET STREET. YORK This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Swann Street & Cygnet Street, York between the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 56 Swann Street and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 15 Cygnet Street (closed road) during the period when roadway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 19 September 2022 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 07 October 2022 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Additionally, all 'on-street' parking places situated on the north-western side of Swann Street, York between the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 56 Swann Street and the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 48 Swann Street (suspension area) will be subject to suspension. An alternative route for diverted cyclists and vehicles will be signed during the works period.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
