Public Rights of Way Notices
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS ORDER 2021
Footpath No's 76, 78, 89, 127 (part), 133 AND 134, in the Parish of Wilmslow

Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in pursuance of the power conferred upon him by sub-section (5) of the aforementioned Section 15 has approved the Order effective from the 18 February 2021 being extended and continuing in force until 18 August 2023 or until the completion of the works whichever is the earlier. The current effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following lengths of public footpath which are shown on the closure plan by bold solid black lines:

Footpath No.76 Wilmslow which commences at O.S Grid Reference (OSGR) SJ 8661 8222 and runs in north easterly direction for approx. 205m and then runs in a north, north westerly direction for approx. 94m and then runs in a north, north easterly direction for approx. 197m and then runs in a north easterly direction for approx. 51m to OSGR SJ 8678 8266.

Footpath No.78 Wilmslow which commences at OSGR SJ 8678 8266 and runs in a north easterly direction for approx. 19m to OSGR SJ 8680 8267.

Footpath No.133 Wilmslow which commences at OSGR SJ 8677 8265 and runs in a northerly direction for approx. 30m to OSGR SJ 8677 8268(3) and then runs in an easterly direction for approx. 5m to OSGR SJ 8677 8268(4).

Footpath No.134 Wilmslow which commences at OSGR SJ 8677 8268 and runs in a generally westerly direction for approx. 5m to OSGR SJ 8676 8268.

Installation of an alternative route that bypasses the collapsed part of the riverbank, has enabled the prohibition of pedestrians on parts of Footpath No's 78, 89 and 127 north of the river, to be lifted at present so these footpaths are currently open and available for use.

The closure is necessary to prevent the likelihood of danger to the public posed by an unsafe bridge and the collapse of part of the riverbank to the north of the bridge which has destroyed part of the public footpaths in that area. The closure will continue until a resolution is identified and actioned.
