Burgh by Sands, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

The County Of Cumbria (UIII8 Boustead Hill, Near Burgh By Sands, Portland Place, Carlisle And C1015 Harker) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable United Utilities to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road: -

1. U1118 Boustead Hill, near Burgh by Sands: From its junction with the C2042 extending in a southerly direction for approx 600m.

Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of the U1118, B5307, U2004, and C2042.
From 12 September 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CA-22-113)

2. Portland Place, Carlisle: From its junction with Botchergate extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 50m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of Portland Place, Botchergate, Devonshire Street, Lowther Street, Spencer Street, and Cecil Street.

From 12 September 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CA-22-114)
3. C1015 Harker: From its junction with the A7 extending in a westerly direction for approx. 560m.

Alternative route: via the unrestricted section of the C1015, A7, A689, and C1022.
From 15 September 2022 for approx. 5 days (Ref: CA-22-121) A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The references to quote are specified above.

The Order will come into operation on 12 September 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as specified above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
