The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads, Cockermouth And Surrounding Area) (Consolidation And Provision Of Traffic Regulations) Order

1. Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (4), 19, 32, 35, 35A, 38, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The effect of the proposed Order will be to: -
(a) Consolidate the provisions of : -
The County of Cumbria (Various Roads, Cockermouth and
Surrounding Area) (Traffic Regulation) Order 2020; and
The County of Cumbria (C2016 Broughton Beck Bridge)
(Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehciles Over 13 Tonnes
Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight) Order 2003;
And the following proposals, into one concise Order: -
(b) An "18 Tonnes Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight restriction" on the U2212 Park Bridge, Loweswater;
(c) An "33 Tonnes Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight restriction" on the U2212 Church Bridge, Loweswater;
(d) An extension of the existing "No Waiting At Any Time" restrictions on the B5289 Buttermere and Crummock Water; and
(e) A "Prohibition of Motor Vehicles, Except for Access" restriction on the U2103 Torpenhow, Bothel.

3. Full details of the proposed Order, together with plans showing the lengths of road concerned, a statement of the Council's reasons for proposing to make the Order and a copy of the Orders to be consolidated and revoked, may be viewed on the Council's website using the following link: -
and on deposit at: -
(i) Cockermouth Library, Main Street, Cockermouth;
(ii) Tourist Information Centre, 4 Old Kings Arms Lane, Cockermouth; and
(iii) at the offices of the undersigned during normal working hours.
