New Street, Temporary Prohibition of Traffic

The County Of Cumbria (U236i New Street, Cockermouth) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Sunbelt Rentals to carry out works for the installation of a new pole ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of
which is to:
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U2361 New Street, Cockermouth, from its junction with Crown Street, extending in a southerly direction for a total distance of approximately 10 metres.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
2. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day or from loading and/or unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along the following lengths of road:
(i) U2361, New Street, Cockermouth (east side), from a point approx. 10 metres south of its junction with Crown Street, to a point 19 metres south of its junction with Crown Street; and (ii)U2361, New Street, Cockermouth (east side), from a point approx. 26 metres south of its junction with Crown Street, to a point 62 metres south of its junction with Crown Street; and (iii)U2361, New Street, Cockermouth (east side), from a point approx. 69 metres south of its junction with Crown Street, to a point 111 metres south of its junction with Crown Street Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and
2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and
3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

, quoting the reference AL22-347. The Order will come into operation on 26 August 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
