INTRODUCTION OF PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLE ZONES AROUND SCHOOLS

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Enfield (the Council) on 10 August 2022 made The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Highworth Road) (No. 9) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Hazelwood Lane Area) (No.10) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Houndsfield Road Area) (No. 11) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Frederick Crescent) (No. 12) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Durants Road) (No. 13) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Prescribed Routes) (Weir Hall Road) (No. 14) Traffic Order 2022, The Enfield (Event Day) (Waiting Restrictions) (Amendment No. 3) Order 2022 and The Enfield (Event Day) (Parking Places) (Amendment No. 3) Order 2022 under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The general effect of the Orders will be to:
(a) ban motor vehicles from entering the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice, during certain times of the day. This will be achieved by making those lengths of road pedestrian and cycle zones and barriers may be placed at certain points. The pedestrian and cycle zones and any barriers can be in operation on Mondays to Fridays, although in practice it is anticipated that they will only operate in school term-time when the relevant traffic signs are showing; and
(b) remove 5 metres of SE permit holders parking place on the west side of Weir Hall Road, opposite No. 90, and replace it with at any time waiting restrictions to be indicated by double yellow lines.
3. Access permit holders' vehicles will be permitted entry to the pedestrian and cycle zones and access permit holders' vehicles that are already in a length of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice before the pedestrian and cycle zone commences will be permitted to leave. Access Permits will be available to properties within or accessible only via the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
4. A copy of the Orders, which will come into force on 1 st September 2022, and the Council's statement of reasons for making the Orders can be inspected at the Town Library, 66 Church Street, Enfield EN2 6AX, Monday to Fridays 9am - 5pm inclusive, or online at: https://new.enfield.gov.uk/services/roads-and-transport/traffic-management-orders/

5. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
