The M74/A74 Trunk Road (Hamilton) (Temporary 40mph Speed Restriction) Order 2022

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS give notice that they have made the above Order under sections 2(1), 4(1) and 14(l)(a) and (4) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which will have the effect of imposing a 40mph speed restriction on the following lengths of road -
1. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the northbound carriageway from the diverge

of the off slip road at Junction 6 northwards to the merge with the on slip road from Junction 6, a distance of 1.4 kilometres or thereby.
2. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the southbound and northbound carriageways from a point directly over the centreline of the pedestrian underpass at Junction 6 southwards to the merge with the southbound on slip road at Junction 10 (Wellburn), a distance of 18.8 kilometres or thereby.

3. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the southbound off slip road to Hamilton at Junction 6 from a point directly over the centreline of the pedestrian underpass at Junction 6 southwards to the point where it joins the southbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road, a distance of 1 kilometre or thereby.

4. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the southbound off slip road to Hamilton and Motherwell at Junction 6 from a point directly over the centreline of the pedestrian underpass at Junction 6 southwards to the point where it joins the northbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road, a distance

of 925 metres or thereby.
5. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the northbound off slip road to Hamilton

and Motherwell at Junction 6 from its diverge from the northbound carriageway to the point where it joins the northbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road, a distance of 1.14 kilometres or thereby.
6. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the northbound off slip road to Hamilton

and Motherwell at Junction 6 from its diverge from the northbound carriageway to the point where it joins the southbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road, a distance of 900 metres or thereby.
7. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the northbound carriageway from a point 75 metres southeast of a point directly over the centreline

of the pedestrian underpass at Junction 6 generally north westwards to a point 606 metres west of a point directly under the centreline of the A721 Daldowie Drive, a distance of 8.7 kilometres or thereby.
8. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the southbound carriageway from a point 615 metres west of a point directly under the centreline of the A721 Daldowie Drive, generally eastwards to a point 75 metres southeast of a point directly over the centreline of the pedestrian underpass at Junction 6, a distance of 8.6 kilometres or thereby.

9. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the northbound on slip road from the southbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road at Junction 6,

a distance of 1.2 kilometres or thereby.
10. That length of the M74/A74(M) Glasgow - Carlisle Trunk Road being the southbound on slip road from the southbound carriageway of the A723 Motherwell Road at Junction 6,

a distance of 850 metres or thereby.
The Order, is required because works are being or are
proposed to be executed on or near the road and will be in
operation from 10 August 2022 until 14 November 2022
and will only have effect in relation to such part or parts of
the length of road as is indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
The Order does not apply to vehicles falling within regulation
3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation
and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance
with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations; or vehicles being
used in an emergency for coastguard purposes.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
An alternative route is not required.
