The County Of Cumbria (Footpath Nos. 109106, 109113, 109114 And 109334 In The City Of
Carlisle And Footpath No. 138001 In The Parish Of Wetheral) (Temporary
Prohibition Of Pedestrians) Order 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Order made by Cumbria County Council on 21 September 2021, to enable improvement works to be carried out as part of the Government Environment Grant Scheme ("the Works"), which became operative on 1 October 2021, was subsequently extended and which would otherwise expire on 1 October 2022 : has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 31 December 2022.
The effect of the Order is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the following lengths of footpath:
1. An approx. 1167 metre section of Public Footpath No. 109106 at The Swifts in the City of Carlisle between Grid References: 340226 556568 and 340549 556339:
There is no suitable alternative route available for pedestrians however the contractors on site may provide a local diversion on site when it is deemed safe to do so.
2. An approx. 561 metre section of Public Footpath No. 109113 at Stoneyholme in the City of Carlisle between Grid References: 341385 556339 and 341700 555975:
Alternative Route: via the footways of Thirlwell Avenue, Warwick Road, Victoria Place and St Aidan's Road.
3. The entire length of Public Footpath No. 109114 in the City of Carlisle from The Toby Carvery at Grid Reference 342589 556017 to its junction with Footpath No. 138001 at Grid Reference: 342678 556192;
4. An approx. 400 m section of Public Footpath No. 138001 known as Johnny Bulldogs Lonning in the Parish of Wetheral between Grid References: 342678 556192 and 342891 556515
5. The entire length of Public Footpath No. 109334 in the City of Carlisle from Guilford Park to London Road between Grid References: 341256 554771 and 341151 554092.
There is no suitable alternative route available, for pedestrians during the restrictions detailed in 3 to 5 above (inclusive). If the works have not been completed within the extension period, the Order may be extended for a further period with the approval of the appropriate Minister.
