The A66 Motorway (Blackwell Spur) (Temporary Restriction And Prohibition Of Traffic)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Motorway, in the Districts of Richmondshire and Darlington, to enable recycling of filter rain and pipe replacement works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 29 August 2022 for 10 weeks or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, at times during the works, between 8pm and 6am, to close the:
(i) A66(M) eastbound and westbound carriageways carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 57 (Blackwell Spur) to Blackwell Spur Roundabout, a distance of 3420 metres;
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(ii) impose a temporary 50mph, 40mph and 30mph speed restriction on the A66(M) westbound and eastbound carriageways from the exit slip road at Junction 57 to Blackwell Spur Roundabout, a distance of 3420 metres; and
(iii) use the hardshoulder adjacent to the A1(M) westbound and eastbound carriageways from the exit slip road at Junction 57 to the
A66(M) at Blackwell Spur Roundabout,
a distance of 3420 metres. Traffic management will be in place 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
