CASTLE POINT COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE LEVY DRAFT CHARGING SCHEDULE FURTHER CONSULTATION REPRESENTATION PROCEDURE
Planning Act 2008 Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010 (as amended)
Castle Point Borough Council is undertaking Further Consultation on its Draft Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Charging Schedule in order to allow residents and other stakeholders to comment on new evidence base documents arising due to the withdrawal of the Local Plan.
CIL is a locally set charge on new development which the Council has chosen to introduce. It is charge based on the size and type of new development proposed, and once set is mandatory to pay and non-negotiable. The funds raised through CIL will be used to provide infrastructure in the local area to address the impacts of growth. The CIL Charging Schedule sets out the proposed levy rates for different types of development within different parts of Castle Point.
Consultation on the CIL Draft Charging Schedule begins on Friday 22nd July and ends at 5pm on Friday 2nd September 2022. All responses to the consultation must be received by the Council no later than 5pm on Friday 2nd September 2022. During this time, any person or organisation may make representations. Representation may be made electronically or in writing. Anyone wishing to make a representation is encouraged to use the CIL Draft Charging Schedule Consultation Response Form available to download from the Council's website, or to collect from the Council Offices during those times set out above. All consultation responses received will be passed to the Examiner undertaking the examination of the Draft CIL Charging Schedule. Therefore, in making a representation on the Draft CIL Charging Schedule, you may request the right to be heard by the examiner. You may also request to be notified when the recommendations of the examiner are published and when the Charging Schedule is approved by the Council for use.
Representations made in respect of this consultation will be published on the Council's website alongside your name and, where applicable your organisation. Your address, signature and contact details will not be made available. Your consultation response will be stored on a database used solely for the purpose of preparing the CIL Charging Schedule and will be retained in accordance with the Council's Document Retention Policy.
