(Footpath Number 18 (between A167 and
A177 South Road), Durham) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2022

The Council on 15/7/22 made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 as amended, Section 14 (1) to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on up to a 275 metre length of public footpath number 18, Durham Parish that extends westerly from its junction with A177 South Road, Durham due to the likelihood of danger to the public and to enable major refurbishment and extension works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the eastern side of the closure from A177 South Road heading north easterly and turning westerly onto Elvet Hill Road and south westerly onto Mill Hill Lane and continuing westerly via Footpath No. 17 to A167 and then southerly to the western side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works are expected to commence on 19/7/22 and are anticipated to be required for a period of 6 month. On occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
